A lot of apps may provide restaurant search, but the updated YP℠ app for iPhone delivers a deeper restaurant search experience like attribute ratings, reviews and deals/savings. Now, with the updated YP℠ app, users can search menus to find the perfect dish they’re in the mood for.
How does it work? It’s easy. Just tap on Help me find a restaurant button on the home page to search menus for specific dishes and items. Maybe you’re in the mood for waffles or maybe you’re hungry for burritos. By tapping on Menu Items, you can now expand your search to find your favorite dish. The YP℠ app does the work by searching through 300,000+ menus from local restaurants nearby finding the “best” restaurant to fit the consumers needs based on price, cuisine, ambience, ratings, and location.
The updated app also allows users to upload and view photos, which can give folks more information on businesses. Let’s say you were hungry for waffles and found a cool diner where they serve delicious waffles 24/7. Why not take a picture of the waffles or the interior of the diner? As we mentioned in an earlier post, the photo upload is not just for restaurants. Upload photos of all types of local businesses while checking out photos uploaded by other users. Whether it’s a sleek salon, eccentric antiques store or a really impressive bike store you recently visited, snap those photos and upload them. Just make sure you read the YP.com terms and conditions for photos.

Check out the free report commissioned by AT&T Interactive!
The swift adoption of mobile devices has changed how consumers search and shop, which opens up opportunities for advertisers and publishers. In order to understand this dynamic shift towards mobile local search, AT&T Interactive commissioned Nielsen to conduct a custom study. We provide the three-part series as a free resource to the industry. The first two papers published from this study focused on issues related to consumers and advertisers. In this third and final installment of the series, we examine ways publishers can extract new value from the mobile landscape and the evolving habits of local mobile searchers.
Key findings for publishers include:
- 41% of Searchers who used AT&T Interactive’s properties, such as YPmobile® products, clicked on an ad based on its relevance to their particular needs
- Half of all Searchers are likely to reveal location
- Publishers that serve local ads from the YP℠ Local Ad Network have increased eCPMs by 15% to 44%
Publishers looking to tap into local mobile searchers should not miss out on this insightful research.

Calling all foodies with iPhones!
Want to say a little more about a recent visit to a restaurant? Maybe you’re looking to express your inner food critic. Maybe you’re wondering where to eat and want a quick review of a restaurant.
