So you’ve got a great mobile app. You worked hard on it and now it’s a reality. Congrats! You’ve made it this far but what about the pitch?

You may have a stellar mobile app but not being able to articulate its value or simply explain what it does and why it’s a fresh idea can lead you, well, nowhere. No need to worry. Here are a few tips when pitching your mobile app:

  1. Short synopsis of your app – Come up with a simple explanation of what the app does.
  2. Know your audience – Who’s going to use the app?
  3. Value of the app – Why would anybody use your app? What are the benefits? What problems does your app solve?
  4. How is your app different from other apps? – The app market is huge so there might be similar apps to yours. What separates yours from the others? What’s fresh and new about it?
  5. Get your demo ready – Make sure it’s working.  I know it sounds silly but it’s important to have a functional and smooth running mobile app that’s ready to go to market
  6. Practice your pitch – Time yourself, practice in front of a friend, record yourself. Do it over and over so when you eventually pitch, you’ll be polished.

“Looking for Love in All the Right Places” is the theme for the latest Seasonal Local Insights from AT&T Interactive.  Where was the right place/city for love last Valentine’s Day? According to our Seasonal Local Insights, it was San Francisco.

Based on searches for Valentine’s Day-related categories like Florists, Candy Stores and Jewelry on YP.com℠ and YPmobile®, San Francisco topped the list of most romantic cities in the US. The romantic “City by the Bay” beat out New York, Houston and Miami. Oklahoma City rounded out the top five, which showed us all that cowboys and cowgirls are just as romantic.

Regardless of how amorous the city, our Seasonal Local Insights confirms just how popular restaurants are as a destination for Valentine’s Day. In fact, searches for restaurants increased by 69% on Valentine’s Day versus searches the prior week. Top Valentine’s Date Spots included Steak Houses and Italian Restaurants.

In the last edition of Seasonal Local Insights, we discovered urgency was a key motivator for consumers searching for holiday gifts. The theme of urgency resurfaced for mobile local searches last Valentine’s Day; mobile searches for flowers grew 645% on Valentine’s Day from the same day of the previous week. It seems a lot of folks waited to the last minute then searched on their mobile phones to find flower options for their sweethearts.

This installment of the Seasonal Local Insights also includes a list of the top Valentine’s Day category search Increases.
